Remove hidden image metadata before sharing. Scan and clean your image directly in your browser.
Remove EXIF and Other Hidden Image Metadata
Photos can contain hidden metadata such as EXIF information, GPS location, camera or phone details, timestamps, XMP, IPTC, and other file metadata. This free image privacy cleaner scans common metadata markers and creates a clean copy before you share the image.
How to Remove Image Metadata
- Choose an image or drag and drop it into the tool.
- Review the common metadata markers detected in the file.
- Select Remove All Metadata.
- Download the cleaned copy and share it instead of the original.
What Metadata Can Be Removed?
The cleaner re-encodes the image in your browser and removes common metadata carried by the original file. The scanner recognizes common EXIF, XMP, IPTC, ICC profile, PNG text metadata, WebP metadata, and other format-specific markers. The cleaned copy is generated without those detected metadata segments; support varies by image format and browser.
Does Removing EXIF Remove GPS Location?
GPS coordinates are commonly stored in EXIF metadata. Re-encoding the image removes that hidden metadata from the cleaned copy. However, metadata removal does not remove visible clues in the image itself, such as street signs, addresses, faces, screens, or recognizable locations.
Images Stay in Your Browser
The image is processed locally in your browser. QuickEasyKit does not upload the selected image to a server for scanning or cleaning. The cleaned file is generated on your device and can be downloaded directly.
Important Note
Use the cleaned copy when sharing the image. Keep in mind that metadata cleaning is only one part of image privacy. Before publishing a photo, also check the visible image for personal information or location clues.
FAQ
What is EXIF data?
EXIF is metadata commonly stored inside photos. It can include information such as the camera model, capture time, and sometimes GPS coordinates.
Does this remove GPS coordinates?
Yes, GPS data stored in supported image metadata is removed from the cleaned copy through local re-encoding.
Does the cleaner upload my photos?
No. Scanning and cleaning are performed locally in your browser.
Will the image look the same?
The cleaner keeps the image dimensions. JPEG output is re-encoded and can involve a small quality change. PNG output preserves transparency, while browser support for some less common image formats can vary.
Can I clean an image without installing software?
Yes. This tool runs in a modern web browser and does not require an account or software installation.
